“MITICHE” ECCELLENZE CASTELLANE…

Lo sapevate che le fragoline di Nemi erano conosciute fin nell’Antica Roma e venivano chiamate “le lacrime di Venere”?
Il Mito narra che la dèa s’innamorò perdutamente del bellissimo cacciatore Adone che divenne il suo amante. Marte, preso da feroce gelosia, scagliò contro il giovane un cinghiale, che lo ferì a morte. Venere pianse disperata sopra il corpo ormai esanime dell’amato, e le sue copiose lacrime, cadendo a terra, mischiate col sangue di Adone, si trasformarono in piccoli cuori rossi, le fragoline.

Ecco perché già più di 2000 anni fa le fragoline venivano mangiate e celebrate durante le feste in onore di Adone, alle idi di giugno. La tradizione pagana si mantenne sino alla Roma dei Papi dando luogo a festeggiamenti noti come il “Trionfo delle Fragole”, a Campo de’ Fiori il 13 giugno. In tale occasione le donne preparavano un grande canestro, ponendovi al centro la statua di Sant’Antonio e disponendovi intorno panieri stracolmi di fragole che venivano poi distribuite ai presenti.

Da queste tradizioni prende spunto la #SagradellefragolinediNemi che si svolge ogni anno sempre a giugno e che attira molti visitatori da tutte le città limitrofe e non solo.


Il frutto, eccellenza del territorio dolce e profumata, è riconosciuto come Prodotto Agroalimentare Tradizionale (PAT).
